This worldwide pandemic has affected production lines across the globe from toilet paper to upholstery. COVID-19 has affected countless companies with some running extensive sales to move excess inventory and prepare for new lines, while others have come to a complete halt.

In this post, we’ll examine how the Coronavirus has impacted production of major European car brands.

Alfa Romeo

Alfa Romeo has closed their plants as well to ensure the health and safety of their workers. We do not yet know when plants will stay open for normal production periods.

Audi

In early March, Volkswagen temporarily closed all European plants including Audi. Production sites have started opening all around Europe but are still working at half capacity and slower rates than normal.

BMW

BMW factories are currently open. For safer production and delivery, BMW has heightened their strict cleaning procedures as well as shortening hours for each employee.

Fiat

Fiat has closed their plants as well to ensure the health and safety of their workers. We do not yet know when plants will stay open for normal production periods.

Jaguar Land Rover

As the largest auto firm in the UK, Britain asked Jaguar Land Rover to help make health equipment, including ventilators, to assist with the Pandemic. This slowed down the production line for most vehicles being produced.

Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Daimler has postponed annual gatherings but has decided to keep manufacturing plants open with heightened safety and sanitation measures.

MINI

Under the BMW guidelines and regulations, MINI has heightened their cleaning procedures and shortened hours.

Porsche

In early March, Volkswagen temporarily closed all European plants including Porsche. Production sites have started opening all around Europe but are still working at half capacity and slower rates than normal.

Volkwagen

In early March, Volkswagen temporarily closed all European plants in Spain, Portugal, Slovakia, Italy, and Germany. The closure of these facilities means the stop in production brands under the Volkswagen umbrella including  Audi, SEAT, Ducati, Porsche and Lamborghini. Production sites have started opening all around Europe but are still working at half capacity and slower rates than normal.

Volvo

In Belgium, Volvo halted production on March 26. The main plant re-opened on April 14th with rotated hours or production so workers could maintain a good social distance. Plants in China have remained closed since early march.
