10. Mazda (2014 Ranking #12)
Mazda makes our top brands list for the first time since we started it. Mazda sales are up 73% from 2014 among Cartelligent clients who appreciate the distinctive, looks, sporty handling, and strong fuel economy the brand offers.
Top sellers include the CX-5 (shown), Mazda3, and Mazda6, with the new CX-3 off to a promising start.
9. Lexus (2014 Ranking #7)
Lexus leads the luxury hybrid market and nearly 1 in 3 Cartelligent Lexus buyers choose the hybrid option. Our clients love the reliability, safety and strong resale value the brand offers, as well as the high fuel economy among both hybrid and gas models.
Top sellers include the RX 350 and RX 450h, ES 300h and ES350 (shown), and the new-for-2015 NX 200t and NX 300h.
8. Ford (2014 Ranking #8)
With its EcoBoost gas engines, hybrid models, and Energi plug-in hybrids, Ford is building a reputation as a leader in fuel-efficiency. Ford is the only US-based manufacturer to make this year’s list; its trucks and SUVs remain popular choices while its sedans are achieving a growing loyalty with our clients.

7. Mercedes-Benz (2014 Ranking #6)
Mercedes-Benz combines German engineering with stylish exteriors and immaculately appointed interiors. The brand made a bold move this year with the restyled GLE-Class and GLC-Class—we’re excited to see how both perform in 2016.
Top sellers include the C-Class and E-Class (shown), as well as the GL-Class SUVs.
6. Honda (2014 Ranking #5)
Honda owners love the reliability and high-resale value the brand provides. New models introduced at the end of this year include the new HR-V crossover, and the redesigned Pilot, Accord and Civic.
Top sellers include the Odyssey, Pilot (shown), CR-V, Fit and Accord.
5. Subaru (2014 Ranking #9)
Subaru is up four places in this year’s rankings and it’s easy to see why the brand is gaining popularity. The brand’s EyeSight crash prevention system received the highest possible rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and Kelly Blue Book named it the brand with both the lowest cost to own and the highest resale value for 2015.
Top sellers include the Forester (shown), Outback, and Impreza.
4. Volkswagen (2014 Ranking #4)
Despite the brand’s difficulties in 2015, Volkswagens remain a top option with Cartelligent clients. The Golf family of cars was named North American Car of the Year (2015), Motor Trend’s 2015 Car of the Year, and an IIHS Top Safety Pick (applies only to four-door models). We’ve seen an 86% increase in Golf sales and a 75% uptake in GTI sales over 2014. The all-new e-Golf is also off to a promising start.

3. Audi (2014 Ranking #3)
Audi’s clean lines and sporty handling make the brand a favorite with Cartelligent clients. More than half of Cartelligent’s Audi clients choose an SUV and we expect those numbers to increase with the introduction of the smaller Q3 and the 2017 redesign of the Q7 (which will be available this spring).
Top sellers include the Q5 and Q7 SUVs, as well as the A4 and A6 (shown).
2. BMW (2014 Ranking #1)
BMW bills itself as the Ultimate Driving Machine and, as usual, Cartelligent clients seem to agree. The brand fell one spot from #1 on this year’s list, but sales remain strong with leasing an extremely popular option. About 2/3 of Cartelligent’s BMW clients chose sedans over SUV’s with the 3 series leading as the overall top choice.

1. Toyota (2014 Ranking #2)
BMW beat Toyota out for the #1 position in 2014, but this year the brand is back on top of our list. Surprisingly, for the first time ever, our top-selling Toyota was not the Prius. Instead, the Highlander took top honors among Toyota buyers.
Top sellers include the Highlander (shown), Prius, Sienna, Tacoma and 4Runner.
Last year we had a tie between the Toyota Prius and the BMW X5 for our top selling vehicle. In 2015, the Prius fell to #5 and the X5 to #6. Meanwhile this year’s #2 seller skyrockets up from #8 on last year’s list. . .
2. Subaru Outback (2014 Ranking #8)
Why we love it: Redesigned for 2015, the capable Outback offers ample cargo space, a comfortable ride and sporty handling. Cartelligent client’s love its rugged good looks, versatile cargo space, and overall safety and reliability.
1. Audi Q5/SQ5 (2014 Ranking #3)
Why we love it: The Audi Q5 is a top choice for those who want to combine luxury and performance with the spaciousness of an SUV. The Q5 is an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ when equipped with optional front crash prevention. Around 10% of our clients choose to upgrade to the SQ5 for even greater agility and acceleration.
