At Cartelligent, we help Californians buy and lease new cars every day. One of our most popular models right now is the BMW iX all-electric luxury SUV. Our clients love the impressive range of up to 309 miles, the tech-filled interior including a large touch screen, and the panoramic sunroof.

Starting price for the 2025 BMW iX xDrive50 is $87,250, but because BMWs can be configured in myriad ways, the MSRP for your perfect BMW may be higher.

Here are some things to consider if you’re in the market for a new BMW iX:

Consider Leasing your BMW iX

Leasing is often a great option for consumers who are looking to consistently drive a newer car. It is an even better option for the BMW iX because BMW is currently passing the $7,500 EV Credit on to the consumer when they lease. Because of the intricacies of the Federal EV Tax Credit, this $7,500 is not available on cash or finance transactions.

EV technology is rapidly improving and the range of cars available now is significantly better than it was three years ago. Leasing your new EV, allows you to take advantage of the rapidly increasing rate of technological advances in battery technology and safety,

Consider Special Ordering your BMW iX

If you’re willing to wait a few short months for your BMW iX, special ordering can be a fantastic choice. Why? Special ordering allows you to configure the car exactly the way you want it, including the packages and options that are important to you. This can save you thousands compared to choosing an available vehicle that may have additional features you’re not interested in. Special orders for the 2025 BMW iX typically take around 8 weeks.

Understand the Lease Deal on your BMW iX

Several factors contribute to the overall cost of the lease. These include:

Gross Capitalized Cost: This is the negotiated cost of the vehicle. If the MSRP of your new BMW iX is $90,295 and you negotiate a price of $5,000 off MSRP, your gross capitalized cost would be $80,295.

Residual Value: The residual value is the amount you would pay for your BMW iX at the end of the lease if you chose to buy it. Because the total cost of the lease is equal to the negotiated cost of the car minus the residual value (plus fees and interest), a higher residual value typically yields a lower lease payment.

Money Factor: The money factor is the interest rate you pay for the lease. Money factors can be translated into the more common APR by multiplying it by 2,400. Dealerships often have the option to mark up the money factor on the lease.

Capitalized Cost Reduction: This is the amount of money you pay at the inception of the lease plus any rebates that are applied to the lease.

Rebates: BMW may choose to offer one or more of the following rebates. These are typically not all available at any given moment and almost always have an expiration date at the end of a given month.

  • Loyalty: BMW may offer a rebate to consumers who already own a BMW
  • Conquest: BMW may offer a rebate to consumers who own a competing brand such as Mercedes-Benz or Audi
  • Lease Rebate: BMW may offer a rebate to all consumers who lease their new iX
  • Costco: BMW may offer a rebate to consumers who are Costco members
  • Employer: BMW may offer a rebate to consumers who are employed by select companies
  • Military or Recent Graduate: BMW may offer a rebate to recent college graduates or members of the armed forces

As discussed above, BMW is currently passing the $7,500 EV credit on to lessees. This appears as a rebate and is included in the Capitalized Cost Reduction.
