11. Volvo (2015 Ranking #21)
Normally, we include ten brands on this list, but we felt Volvo’s 145% increase in sales (which skyrocketed them from 21 to 11) was worthy of inclusion on our list. The XC90 became more available in 2016 and led the brand’s resurgence among Cartelligent clients.

10. Lexus (2015 Ranking #9)
Lexus leads the luxury hybrid market and nearly 1 in 3 Cartelligent Lexus buyers choose the hybrid option. Our clients love the reliability, safety, and strong resale value the brand offers, as well as the high fuel economy among both hybrid and gas models.
Top sellers include the RX 350 and RX 450h, ES 300h and ES350, and NX 200t and NX 300h (shown).
9. Ford (2015 Ranking #8)
With its EcoBoost gas engines, hybrid models, and Energi plug-in hybrids, Ford is building a reputation as a leader in fuel-efficiency. Ford is the only US-based manufacturer to make this year’s list; its trucks and SUVs remain popular choices while its sedans are achieving a growing loyalty with our clients.

8. Mazda (2015 Ranking #10)
Mazda moves up two spots in our list since its debut last year. Cartelligent clients appreciate the distinctive, looks, sporty handling, and strong fuel economy the brand offers.
Top sellers include the CX-5 (shown), CX-9 and Mazda3.
7. Volkswagen (2015 Ranking #4)
Volkswagen is down three spots on our list, but remains a popular choice with our clients. The Golf family of vehicles is especially popular, including the e-Golf and the Golf Sportwagen.
Top sellers include the Jetta, Golf, GTI, eGolf and Golf SportWagen, as well as the Tiguan SUV.
6. Mercedes-Benz (2015 Ranking #7)
Mercedes-Benz combines German engineering with stylish exteriors and immaculately appointed interiors. The brand’s redesigned SUVs have been top choices among our clients helping it climb up a place in this year’s rankings.
Top sellers include the C-Class and E-Class, as well as the GLS-Class, GLC-Class and GLE-Class (shown).
5. Honda (2015 Ranking #6)
Honda owners love the reliability and high resale value the brand provides. The redesigned Pilot and Civic have been popular choices as has the new HR-V.
Top sellers include the Odyssey, Pilot, HR-V, CR-V and Civic.
4. Subaru (2015 Ranking #5)
Subaru continues to gain traction with our clients. The brand’s EyeSight crash prevention system received the highest possible rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and Kelly Blue Book named it best overall brand, most trusted brand, and brand with the highest resale value for 2016.

3. Audi (2015 Ranking #3)
Audi’s clean lines and sporty handling make the brand a favorite with Cartelligent clients. The brand’s SUVs, the redesigned Q7, ever-popular Q5 and smaller Q3, make up over half of our Audi sales.
Top sellers include the Q3, Q5, and Q7 SUVs, as well as the A3 and A4 (shown).
2. BMW (2015 Ranking #2)
BMW bills itself as the Ultimate Driving Machine and, as usual, Cartelligent clients seem to agree. A little over half of Cartelligent’s BMW clients chose sedans over SUV’s with the 3 series and X5 practically tied for top choice.
Top sellers include the 3 Series, 4 Series, i3 electric car, and the X1, X3 and X5 SUVs.
1. Toyota (2015 Ranking #1)
This year Toyota remains at the top of our list. For the second year in a row, the Highlander took honors away from the Prius as our top-selling Toyota.
Top sellers include the Highlander, Prius, Sienna (shown), Tacoma, RAV4, and 4Runner.
Last year, the Outback shot up to #2 on our list for the first time ever. This year it goes even further, taking over the top spot from the Audi Q5/SQ5.
2. Audi Q5/SQ5 (2015 Ranking #1)
Why we love it: The Audi Q5 is a top choice for those who want to combine luxury and performance with the spaciousness of an SUV. The Q5 is an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ when equipped with optional front crash prevention and specific headlights. We’re excited to see what the scheduled redesign brings for the 2018 model year.
