There are a lot of great reasons why people choose to lease their new cars. The combination of lower upfront costs and smaller payments, plus the ability to keep up with the rapid evolution of safety and technology features makes leasing a strong option for around half of our clients.

We thought it would be interesting to look at which models are most often leased. It’s not surprising that we found a number of vehicles from manufacturers like Audi and BMW that offer strong lease incentives.

10. Jeep Grand Cherokee (53% leased)

Why we love it: The classic Grand Cherokee is consistently popular with Cartelligent clients. It can serve as a spacious and comfortable family vehicle or as a capable off-road or tow vehicle (when properly equipped). Powertrain options include a 3.6L Pentastar V6, a 5.7L HEMI V8, and a 3.0L EcoDiesel V6.

9. Porsche Macan (57% leased)

Why we love it: Released in 2014, the Porsche Macan was immediately in high demand among Cartelligent clients. While many compact SUVs tend to scale down amenities and performance to achieve a lower price point, the Macan is truly a smaller Cayenne. With a choice of three turbo engines and a massive option list, the Macan is the perfect option for those who want to combine the versatility of an SUV with a fantastic drive.

8. Acura MDX (62% leased)

Why we love it: The seven-passenger MDX is an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ when equipped with the optional front crash prevention system. New safety features include lane-keeping assist and forward collision avoidance. Upgrade to the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive for constant monitoring that sends power to the wheels with the most traction.

7. Lexus RX (63% leased)

Why we love it Lexus’ RX series offers a quiet, comfortable ride and a well styled-interior. Reliability ratings are through the roof, and the AWD 450h’s hybrid drivetrain achieves an impressive 30 mpg combined rating—a huge reason for its popularity. The fully redesigned 2016 model is poised to continue this model’s impressive success.

6. BMW X5 (64% leased)

Why we love it: The X5 offers both the utility of an SUV and the luxury and performance of a BMW. A third-row is optional, and safety upgrades include a rear view camera, active driving assistant, night vision and surround view. A diesel version is available and a plug-in hybrid is expected to arrive by the end of the year.

5. MINI Hardtop (67% leased)

Why we love it: The iconic MINI is known for its agile handling and performance. The Cooper Hardtop has a unique retro style both inside and out that allows drivers to stand out from the pack and while fitting into even the tightest parking spot.

4. Audi A3/S3 (68% leased)

Why we love it: Redesigned in 2014, the entry-level A3 combines the agile handling and distinctive styling of the brand. The A3 was named World Car of the Year in 2014 and is an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ when equipped with optional front crash prevention.

3. BMW 3 Series (70% leased)

Why we love it: BMW’s Series has the style and handling the brand is known for, an array of features and an attractive price point. It is available with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic. The 2016 model year brings the world premiere of BMW’s all-new inline 6-cylinder gas engine in the 340i and the first ever plug-in hybrid 3 Series, the 330e.

2. Audi Q7 (76% leased)

Why we love it: Audi’s first SUV, the Q7, hasn’t seen a major redesign since its 2006 release. The 2017 model boasts an infusion of available tech including predictive fuel efficiency assistant, traffic-jam assist, collision avoidance assist, attention assist, head-up display, and the latest generation multi-media interface infotainment system. With seating for seven, it is available with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder or a 3.0-liter supercharged V6.

1. Audi A6/S6 (78% leased)

Why we love it: With the latest A6, Audi has made itself hard to surpass in the mid-sized luxury sedan market. The refined, well laid out interiors, beautiful color combinations, standard Quattro all-wheel-drive on most variations, and inspired handling are just a few of the reasons that this is a great choice. New features for the 2016 model include a real USB port (missing until now), 4G AT&T Wi-Fi, sharper taillights, and an LCD dash screen that can display Google Earth based navigation. Three engines are available on the A6, and an incredible performance-based S6 is available for those that need to get from 0-60 mph in under 4 seconds.
