European delivery programs combine the excitement of driving your new vehicle with the thrill of a European vacation. Many brands offer discounts on the price of the vehicle and a number of travel perks that can offset the cost of your vacation. Volvo will even pay for your flight to Sweden!

These programs (currently offered by Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Volvo) allow you to special order your new vehicle to your exact specifications and pick it up at the brand’s European factory. You get to drive it around Europe during your vacation, and then have it shipped back home when you return (known as redelivery).

European delivery does require some planning ahead—typically about three months in advance of travel. You will also need to wait an additional two to three months for the car to be shipped back home afterwards. But in exchange for some advance planning you get to experience your new car on its home turf before you take it back home.

How does the European delivery process work?

Cartelligent can help you through the process or you can work with your local dealer. You will need to decide two things in advance:

  1. Exactly how you want the vehicle configured so that you can have it special ordered
  2. When you want to arrive in Europe to pick your new car up

After your order is placed, you will get a confirmed delivery date and you can book your flight and start planning your trip. You’ll need to sign the final paperwork in the US a week or so before you leave.

Once in Europe, you’ll arrive at the delivery center and factory at the date and time indicated to pick up your new vehicle. You then drive off to enjoy all that Europe has to offer. When your trip is complete, you can return your car to the same location or at a selected alternate drop-off location (often near major airports). The car will then be prepped for shipment to the US where you can pick it up several weeks later at your Cartelligent branch or local dealership. All import paperwork and transportation charges are handled by the manufacturer.
