The BMW X5 has the lowest MSRP and offers the lowest monthly payments. Purchasers of all three vehicles can apply for Federal income tax credits. California residents may also be eligible to apply for State rebates of up to $3,000 (depending on their income level). See Further changes to California plug-in and electric vehicle rebates.

Cost to lease: BMW X5 vs. Porsche Cayenne vs. Volvo XC90

Next, we’ll compare the three vehicles on a three-year, 12,000 mile/year lease.

BMW X5 Porsche Cayenne Volvo XC90
MSRP $68,645 $90,865 $77,725
Down payment $2,500 $2,500 $2,500
Monthly payment (inc. tax) $765 $1,375 $1,225

California State Rebates (with qualifying income) up to $3,000 up to $3,000 up to $3,000

Because of its lower MSRP and the way BMW has incentivized the lease, the X5 is the most economical of the three to lease. The Federal rebate is built into the cost of the lease for all three, but qualifying Californians will still need to file separately for the State rebates.
