You have the option to choose which engine suits your lifestyle. The Volvo XC90 B5 and B6 models use a 48-volt mild hybrid system to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. This is done through electric motor assist during accelerations, regenerative braking, and idle stop/start.
The Volvo XC90 T8 plug-in hybrid allows short-distance electric-only driving, quicker acceleration, and reduced fuel consumption. For this option, you’ll need access to an at-home or public charging station.
